Tegal— All employees of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Tegal Regency participated in the 2026 Economic Census Thematic Discussion (SIMASE 2026) held online on December 24, 2025. The event, themed "The Strategic Role of Publicity and Institutional Relations in the 2026 Economic Census," outlined operational and communication strategies to ensure the participation of businesses and the public, ensuring accurate SE2026 data can serve as the basis for future national policies.
The main theme: The role of publicity and strengthening institutional relations to support the success of SE2026.
Keynote presenter (document): Ir. Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, MM (Acting Head of BPS Central Java Province) was one of the speakers in the central presentation prepared for SIMASE 2026. The central presentation emphasized that SE2026 is not a routine statistical activity but rather a major national mission that impacts GDP rebasing and the quality of business registers.
Official documents emphasize that the success of SE2026 is determined not only by statistical methods, but also by public awareness, cross-sectoral support, and institutional coordination. SE2026 will:
1. Provide an up-to-date map of the economic structure of all regions of Indonesia;
2. Serve as the basis for GDP rebasing (2025) and business register improvements for subsequent BPS surveys;
3. Provide insights for economic analysis, particularly regarding the digital, creative, and environmental economies.
Based on the two documents that serve as the basis for the activity, the material presented and discussed includes:
1. SE2026 Publicity Objectives
Increase public awareness; build public trust; encourage active participation by business actors; and affirm data confidentiality guarantees in accordance with the law.
2. Publicity Targets
Regional governments/technical regional government agencies, academics, media, communities, business associations, formal and informal business actors, the general public, and stakeholders.
3. Publicity Strategy
Direct publicity: face-to-face outreach (meetings with local governments, regional government agencies, associations), roadshows to economic centers/industrial areas/markets, campus/school visits, statistical literacy for media and entrepreneurs, economic census agents, integration with regional events (carnivals, cultural parades), kick-offs by regional heads.
Indirect publicity: mass media (radio, local TV), webinars/YouTube, weekly social media content, short videos and testimonials, printed materials (banners, billboards, posters), mascots, photo booths, and public space decorations.
4. Institutional Strategy and Collaboration Patterns
Coordination across BPS levels (Central → Province → Regency/City), MoUs/PKS with ministries/agencies, circulars from the Minister of Home Affairs/Governor/Regent, and support from associations at the central/provincial/regency levels. Collaboration patterns are formulated as coordinative (synchronized messages/schedules), collaborative (joint publicity/branding), and participatory (institutions act as agents of socialization).
5. Technical Data Collection & Monitoring
Collection of register/prelist data from ministries/agencies, regional government agencies (OPD), and associations; monitoring of data entry through the dashboard; and the role of OPDs and strategic partners in facilitating access to business actors and economic centers.
6. 2026 Publicity Plan (specifically for the Pekalongan Residency)
Details of district/city publication activities within the Pekalongan Residency have been prepared (the document refers to a centralized digital plan source). The attached plan document can be accessed through designated internal channels.
Institutional and Policy Support
* The document mentions the possibility of the President of the Republic of Indonesia launching SE2026 at the State Palace in February 2026 (status: tentative/subject to schedule) as part of the affirmation of the national agenda.
* Circulars and instructions from the Minister of Home Affairs, Governors, Regents/Mayors, and support from associations (at the central, provincial, and district levels) were identified as the main instruments to encourage business participation.
Expected Outcomes and Success Indicators
* Stated success targets: 100% coverage — zero non-response, and high-quality census data as output that can be used for GDP rebasing and policy planning.
