Strengthen Communication and Coordination, Tegal Regency BPS Garner Support for the 2026 Economic Census from the Fisheries Office

May 12, 2026 | BPS Activities

*SLAWI* – The Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Tegal Regency, Bambang Wahyu Ponco Aji, made a strategic working visit to the Tegal Regency Fisheries Office on Tuesday (12/5/2026). This visit is part of strengthening the pillars of Communication, Coordination, and Diplomacy (KKD) that BPS continues to promote in order to succeed in the national agenda. The arrival of the BPS team was warmly welcomed by the Head of the Tegal Regency Fisheries Office, Riesky, accompanied by relevant staff members in a warm and cooperative discussion atmosphere.

The main purpose of this visit is to establish diplomacy and seek full support from the Fisheries Department regarding the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census (SE26). Bambang Wahyu Ponco Aji stated that the fisheries sector is one of the most significant economic drivers in the Tegal Regency area. Therefore, coordination between statistical data providers and sector regulatory agencies is absolutely necessary so that the coverage of future economic data collection can reach all layers of business actors in the maritime and fisheries sectors.

In the meeting, BPS emphasized the importance of the Fisheries Office's role in mobilizing their fostered business actors to actively participate in SE26. This support is expected to ensure that shipowners, fishery product processors, and marine commodity traders under the auspices of the department can be accurately recorded. Without support from the supervising agency, the economic potential in this sector is feared to be inadequately reflected in national statistics.

The Head of the Fisheries Department, Riesky, expressed his readiness to assist BPS in conducting outreach to fisheries stakeholders. He realizes that the data from the 2026 Economic Census will be very beneficial for the Fisheries Office in determining the direction of development policies for the fisheries sector in the future. This synergy is expected to facilitate census officers in the field when encountering respondents who are under the guidance of the Tegal Regency Fisheries Office.

Thru this KKD initiative, the Tegal Regency BPS is optimistic that the level of participation among fishery entrepreneurs will sharply increase. This cross-sectoral diplomacy is key to eliminating information barriers and building a shared awareness of the importance of statistical data for regional development. This visit concluded with a joint commitment to maintain intensive communication until all stages of the 2026 Economic Census are successfully and accurately completed.
