Coordination of Statistical Literacy Implementation at the High School Level

Tuesday, February 13, 2024 Junior Expert Statistician of BPS Tegal Regency, Ika Efrilia, SE, MM and team member, Emmy Laeliyah visited SMA 1, SMA 2, SMA 3 Slawi to coordinate Statistical Literacy activities in schools. This activity was a follow-up in December 2023 when BPS Tegal Regency conducted a Statistical Socialization entitled Statistics Goes to School which was attended by hundreds of students in the three schools.

Focusing on the definition of literacy, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Tegal Regency will conduct statistical education by providing guidance tailored to the school curriculum in collaboration with the duties and functions of BPS so as to expand the usefulness of BPS as a data builder.

Meeting with the Principal of SMAN 1 Slawi, Mrs. Sunarni, S.Pd, MPd, Principal of SMAN 2 Slawi, Mrs. Siti Ati, S.Pd, M.Pd and Principal of SMAN 3 Slawi, Mr. Masduki, S.Pd, M.Pd in their respective offices, Ika Efrilia, SE, MM discussed further with the principals with the hope that this activity can be a stimulus for students, arousing their paradigm of thinking that statistics is easy and can be an instrument for them to learn to the next level of education to educate the next generation of the nation.

The follow-up of this activity is to hold a competition at the high school level to select the best School Statistics Ambassador and the appointment of a Statistical Literacy locus at the school as a central point for the dissemination of useful and quality statistics and will be a follow-up program of BPS Tegal Regency.
