Enthusiasm of SMA N 2 Slawi Students in Statistical Literacy Development

July 31, 2024, Kalisoka Village, Dukuwaru District — The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in Tegal Regency once again conducted a statistical literacy development program at SMA N 2 Slawi. The school’s principal, Mrs. Siti Ati, S.Pd., M.Pd., emphasized that this program aims to enhance numerical literacy skills among SMA N 2 Slawi students in preparation for the Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK) organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek). The school appointed Mrs. Murwatifatin, S.Pd., as the School Statistical Agent, coordinating with BPS Tegal Regency for the implementation of this activity.

The statistical literacy development sessions were held in three designated classrooms. Each class was led by the BPS Tegal Regency team specializing in Economic Statistics. The material covered economic growth, presented in a language easily understood by the students. Graphical representations simplified the understanding of numerical literacy concepts.

The closing session included a brief example of economic growth calculations analogized to everyday life situations. This approach sparked enthusiasm and interest among the students in learning about economics. The expected outcome of this program is to provide students with an overview of numeracy knowledge presented through literacy. Hopefully, the school will continue its efforts to promote numeracy literacy knowledge.(Magangstis)
