Tegal – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in collaboration with Bank Indonesia Tegal held a socialization event for the 2026 Economic Census for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) on May 2, 2026, at the Mulya Darma Meeting Hall in Tegal City. This activity aims to enhance understanding and encourage the active participation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in national economic data collection.
In the presentation delivered by Diana Dwi Susanti, Senior Expert Statistician at the Tegal Regency BPS, the 2026 Economic Census is a national agenda conducted every 10 years in accordance with the mandate of the law. This activity becomes a strategic step in mapping the overall economic conditions as a basis for formulating future development policies.
BPS emphasizes that MSMEs play a very important role in the economy, considering that more than 99 percent of business units are dominated by this sector. Therefore, the accuracy of data from MSMEs is deemed crucial in determining the quality of the census results.
The data collected includes basic business information such as business identity, number of employes, utilization of digital technology, as well as revenue and expenses. BPS also ensures that all data provided by respondents is guarantyd confidentiality and is only used for statistical purposes, not for taxes or audits.
Thru this activity, MSME actors are expected to not hesitate in providing data honestly and openly. The active participation of MSMEs is considered key in producing accurate data, so that the resulting policies can be more targeted and support the development of businesses in the future.
